She worked under three previous assessors: Grace Grubbs, Kathryn “Molly” Barnes, and Sue S. Worthy.

“As a pastor came to me and said, ‘Our plans are not God’s plans’. This is such a bittersweet moment, so I am going to just take one day at a time. Thanks to the Board of Supervisors for giving me this opportunity,” said Brown.

“The tax office staff and I will continue to serve the people of Jefferson Davis County.  In Sue S. Worthy’s voice, ‘I love you all,’” she added.

Brown will begin the tax assessor collector duties immediately and will fulfill these duties until a special election in November.

The winner of the November election will finish the late Worthy’s unexpired term ending in 2015.
