Kathern Keys Davis

Mrs. Kathern Keys Davis, age 64, died early Wednesday, January 152014, at the Haven Hall Care Facility in Brookhaven. Services for Ms. Davis were held on Thursday, January 23, at the Sweet Beulah COGIC with Superintendent M.L. Butler and Elder Billy D. Paige, Sr. officiating. Interment was in the Rose Hill Cemetery with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements.
Ms. Davis was the daughter of the late Willie Keys and the late Gladdie Mae Keys of rural Lawrence County. At an early age she joined the Rose Hill Baptist Church, and remained a member until she united with the Sweet Beulah Church later in life.
Ms. Davis graduated from McCullough High School where she was instrumental in writing the school song and poem for her class, and was renown for her acting ability in school plays. As an adult, Ms. Davis worked as a certified nurse prior to becoming disabled.
Ms. Davis’s survivors include her son, Vincent (Felicia) Keys of Brookhaven; her daughter, Melissa K. McClendon of Durant; three brothers, Willard Keys of Waveland, Calvin (Judy) Keys of Freeport, NY, and Sylvester (Greta) Keys of Silver Creek; six sisters Charlestine Ross, Doris (Joseph) Ade’ both of Arvine, NY, Williestine Lark, Gladys Keys, both of Durant, Betty (David) Goodloe and Vella Coleman both of Silver Creek; two uncles Lessie Butler and Clifford (Ollie) Butler, both of Silver Creek; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
