Prentiss voice of radio dies at 54

For just over 15 years, Danny Polk was a fixture in Prentiss as the voice of WJDR-FM Radio. He succumbed to
complications from illness on Saturday morning while in hospital at University of Mississippi Medical Center.
Hired in 1999, Polk was known as a dedicated announcer for local radio news and sports play-by-play.
“He was a very dedicated and loyal staff member,” said WJDR owner Tommy McDaniel. “He was well-liked by our audience, and we will greatly miss him.”
Funeral services were held on Tuesday at Prentiss Baptist Church with interment at Prentiss Cemetery.
