The old Herring Gas building on the north end of Prentiss that has been empty since 2001 has been a glaring eyesore. Neglected grounds and an empty showroom visible through humongous glaring glass eyes stared at all detained for a moment at the 4-way stop. However, the eyesore is to be no more. Two enterprising young men have purchased the building and are giving it new life.
Stamps Insurance Agency, LLC has now moved in and owner Clay Stamps says the new location will afford him an opportunity to expand and explore other avenues while Danny Martin, owner of Longleaf Heating and Air Conditioning had been working from his home and running out of space for his business. He is pleased with the visibility and ample space he now has for service, supplies and sales.
JDC native Clay Stamps has been in the insurance business since 2008. He was raised here and says he is familiar with the insurance needs of the county’s residents. He is an independent agent and can shop for insurance carriers through A-rated and standard companies to get the best deals for his clients and can help those with credit or driving issues as well. “Just check with me for your insurance needs,” says Stamps. He has auto, home, farm and business insurance as well as health, life and Medicare supplement insurance available.
Stamps says he also has room now to offer his services to sell personal property such as vehicles, campers, real estate and land.
Danny Martin has been in heating and air conditioning service and sales business for 10 years. He is a specialist in maintenance, repair and installation and has been owner of Longleaf Heating and Air Conditioning for the past two years. Martin offers 24-hour emergency service and free estimates on installation of new units. He services all major brands and is a sales distributor for the reliable RUUD central units.
“You never know when a unit is going to need repair and I am here when you need me,” states Martin.
Business hours are 8:30-5:00 Monday – Friday.
Stamps and Martin both agree it took some major repair work to get the building back in shape for business. The building and location suit both of them now but improvements are still in process including painting of the exterior and landscaping.
