Jimmie Lewis Tyrone

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 7, 2014, at New Chapel Pentecostal Church in Collins for Mr. Jimmie Lewis Tyrone, age 77, who passed away on June 4, at Lawrence County Hospital in Monticello. Interment followed at New Chapel Pentecostal Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.
Reverend Ryan Vanderford and Reverend Lon Keen officiated. Pallbearers were Tommy Wayne Gatwood, Avery Kitchen, Alan Davis, Stanley Spikes and Ronnie Gatwood. Honorary Pallbearers were T.L. Evans and Tommy Gatwood.
Jimmie was born on December 25, 1936, in Jefferson Davis County. He was the son of Robert Edward Tyrone and Selma Davis Tyrone. He attended USM for five years. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and recipient of the National Defense Service medal and Good Conduct medal. He was a member of New Hebron Pentecostal Church in New Hebron, MS, and also a Shriner. He was an avid preacher of the gospel since 1964 and retired after serving as pastor to his congregants many years in Corinth Cleveland, Belzona and Dumas, Arkansas.
Mr. Tyrone is survived by his wife, Michelle Stein Tyrone of New Hebron; five daughters, Alisha Burgess of New Hebron, Jamie Moore of Prentiss, Jackie Miller (Mark) of Prentiss, Kim Clark of Pinola, and Lisa Ingle of Rockport; one son, Jerome Boyd of Brandon; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Kathryn Gatwood of Prentiss, Eloise Thornton of Moselle, Doris Dixon of Brandon, and Gwendolyn Evans of Collins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and two sons.
