Funeral services were held Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Saulters Moore Funeral Chapel in Prentiss. For Mrs. Amanda Griffith, age 97, who passed away on June 12 at Briar Hill Nursing Home in Florence. Interment followed at Whitesand Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss was in charge of all arrangements.

Rev. Charles Burnham officiated. Pallbearers were Ron French, Ronnie Williamson, Mark Vedros, Zack Vedros, Henry Griffith and Corey Barton.

Amanda Jane Bridges Griffith was born on December 12, 1916, in Jefferson Davis County. She was the daughter of Henry Mike Bridges and Susie Bass Bridges. She worked as a seamstress at Edward Hyman Company and New Hebron Manufacturing. She was a member of Whitesand Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Merle Bufkin (Charles) of Monticello, Margaret Brogdon of Rockwood, TN, and Clara Williamson (James) of Florence; her 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin Griffith, her son Clyde Griffith, seven brothers and five sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitesand Baptist Church.
