Jerry N. Hawthorne

Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 7, 2014, at Mt. Zion M. B.Church for Mr. Jerry N. Hawthorne, 62, who died Sunday, December 7, 2014, at his residence. Rev. Ozell White, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hawthorne was born to the late Napolean and Inez (Daniels) Hawthorne in Prentiss, MS. He joined Mt. Zion M. B. Church at an early age. He was married to the late Janice Davis of Denver, Colorado and to this union, two daughters were born, Janelle and Joi.

He attended J. E. Johnson High School and soon entered the Air Force for a tour of duty where he received his electrical training and certification. He received honorary discharge from the Air Force and starts his career in the electrical trade. When he moved back to Mississippi, he became known as the “Electrician” to many people near and far.

He is survived by two daughters, Janelle Hawthorne and her children, Janaiya Pope, Jamela Hawthorne and Mandell White all of Colorado Springs, CO and Joi (Robert) Stirup of Tempe, AZ; three brothers, Cleveland (Cathrerine) Hawthorne of Missouri City, TX, Jones (Gloria) Hawthorne of Chicago, IL, Arthur (Comal) Hawthorne of Prentiss, MS; two sisters, Rosie Nell Madison of St. Louis, MO, Nina Rea Gore; and many other relatives and friends.
