Funeral services were held Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Pen Oak MB Church, Silver Creek, for Mr. Jimmy Barnes, age 57, who died Monday, February 9, at Jeff Davis Community Hospital, Prentiss, MS. Rev. Robert Barnes officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jimmy Barnes was born to the late Jimmy Earl and Louise Barnes in Monticello. His kind soul and energy captivated the hearts of everybody that knew him. Above all, the love that he had for his mother surpassed any others. His favorite days of the year were, November 10th, his birthday; and December 25th, the celebration of Christ’s birthday.
He was preceded in death by grandmother, Radie Hill; and two uncles, Billy Hill and Coleman Barnes.
He is survived by mother, Louise Barnes of Silver Creek; three sisters, Radie Jean Barnes of Silver Creek, Jacqueline (Joe) Thompson of Bassfield and Evelyn (Lee) Hathorn of Brookhaven; two brothers, Terry (Brenda) Barnes of Silver Creek and Marcus Barnes; two aunts, Mary Barnes and Leslie Mae (Thomas) Nichols both of Silver Creek, Cleo (Ethel) Barnes and Aaron (Jeanette) Dagins; many other relatives and friends.
