Thomas Spight

Funeral services were held February 19, 2015, at Green Grove MB Church for Mr. Thomas Spight, 76, who died February 11, at his residence. Rev. Timothy Rush officiated. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas Spight was born to the late Thomas Jack and Minerva Spight in Ripley, Mississippi. He was educated in the Ripley School System. He moved to Racine, Wisconsin, where he was employed by Racine Steel Casting, J.I. Case Company, and George Bray Neighborhood Center. He was also a Crossing Guard in Racine County.

He was a member of Searching Together MB Church in Racine.

Mr. Spight was married to Linda Burnette in Racine, Wisconsin. The couple moved to Prentiss in June 2002. They joined Green Grove MB Church. He was a member of the NAACP and AARP.

His survivors include his wife, Linda Spight; children, Phillilp (Annie Pearl) Spight of Memphis, TN, Micheal Kelly of Milwaukee, WI, Jeffery Burnette and Kasant Wilkerson both of Racine, WI; three sisters-in-law, Brazillian (Alfonzo) Thurman of Bayside, WI, Mazelle Selmon of Galesburg, IL, Wanda Burnette of Racine, WI; son-in-law, Michael Harris of Darren, GA; special friends, Carolyn Polk of Racine, WI, and Chet & Gloria Beemer both of Prentiss; goddaughters, Van Preston, Cheryl Hooker, Jocelyn Turner and LaTonya Poole all of Prentiss; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Spight was preceded in death by children, Linda Gale Harris and Grady Douglas Owens; three siblings, Henry Selmon, Sarah Lowery, and Broddie Spight.
