Funeral services were held Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Holly Springs CME Church, Bassfield, for Mrs. Mary Louis Woodland, 68, who died Wednesday, July 15, at her residence in Canton, Ohio. Rev. Pierrdio Gallion officiated with interment following in the Sweetwater CME Church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Woodland was born to the late Will and Mattie Hathorn Bass in Jefferson Davis County. She was educated at Haw Pond School and Carver High School. She attended Sweetwater CME Church. She met and married the late Freddie Johnson and later she married the late Frank Woodland and to this union, one son was born.

She worked for the Transportation of Disabled People in Cleveland, Ohio.

She is survived by one son, Frank (Brandie) Woodland, IV of Canton, Ohio; one sister, Isabell Mikell of Bassfield; two brothers, Willie Ray Bass of Bassfield, and Luther Butler of San Francisco, CA; one niece that was raised as a sister, Shirley Jean McCloud of Bassfield; six grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
