Jefferson Davis County Tax Assessor Kelly Ross-Brown will now be collecting Bassfield City Taxes effective October 1.

The Bassfield Board of Alderman made the decision in their monthly meeting last week.

“We are proud to be collecting Bassfield in addition to Prentiss because when we have errors here, everything is now in one central office. We can handle all problems in one location. This is the first year we have collected Prentiss taxes and that ran smoothly. Now that Bassfield is on board, we can handle all tax needs efficiently,” said Ross-Brown.

Both towns pay a flat fee to the Tax Assessor’s office for this service.

In other Bassfield news, the town park, Faler Park, will only be open from daylight to dark. Cars parked at the park after dark will be towed at the owner’s expense.
