Johnny Edward Rhodes

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at Springhill M. B. Church for Mr. Johnny Edward Rhodes, 68, who died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, at his residence. Rev. Micheal Evans officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Johnny Rhodes was born in Jefferson Davis County to the late Emmanuel and Annie Lee Weathersby Rhodes. He attended J. E. Johnson High School. He joined Springhill M. B. Church at an early age. He was a member of the Voice of Harmony Quartet Group.  He was married to Mrs. Linda Rhodes and two children were born to this union. He later married Miss Elsie Heard. No children were born to this union.

Rhodes worked at Fleet Lofton Lumber Company, Monticello Forrest Products, self-employed and later the Mississippi Forestry Commission until his health failed.

He was preceded in death by his three brothers, LeVadus, James Edward and Willie Jewel Rhodes; two sons, Ratrick Myers and LaMarcus Heard.

He is survived by his wife, Pastor Elsie Rhodes; children, Johnny (Muyucka) Rhodes Jr. and Kelvin Rhodes both of Monticello; Cliff (Diane) Warner, Mechelle and Rochelle (Clifton) Jackson all of Prentiss; Trinia Wolfe of Fayetteville, North Carolina; 15 siblings, Simon (Dianna) Rhodes, Emmanuel Rhodes, Willie Jean (Marvin) all of Chicago, Illinois; Calvin (Mayetta) Rhodes, Harold Rhodes, Larry Rhodes, Sina Burkett, Yvonne Oatis, Roeshelle (Willie) Holloway and Annette Rhodes all of Prentiss; Elvadus (Sylvia) Rhodes, Frank Rhodes, James L. Rhodess all of Prentiss; James Tyson and one godsister, Maxine Price; many other relatives and friends.
