Mary Frances Newsome

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Silver Creek M. B. Church in New Hebron, for Mrs. Mary Francis Newsome, 68, who died Friday, Dec. 30, 2016 at St. Dominic Hospital, Jackson,  .  Rev. Jerry Rogers, pastor, officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Mary Francis Newsome was born to the late Doreatha Ard Miller and was raised by Loubertha and Amos Thomas.

She joined Silver Creek M. B. Church where she was an active member of the usher board, choir and the Mission.

She was a member of the NAACP and Senior Citizen Organization.

Mrs. Newsome was educated in the Jefferson Davis County school district at Oakley Elementary and J. E. Johnson High School. She was employed at KLH for many years.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jessie L. Griffith, Helen Hester and J. D. Ard; two grandsons, Stacey Hall and Khiry Newsome.

She is survived by: five daughters, Frances (Stacey) Hall and Malissa (James) Lott both of Prentiss, Latrice (Howard) Newsome of Hattiesburg; Kelrene Ross of Florence; Heather (Antonio) Parsons of Jackson; 11 grandchildren, Illeshia (Jason), Trikeshia, Chiquita, Keinunna, Ayrenee, James, Khymon, Khaliyah, Stevee, Semaj and Mirahj; 13 great-grandchildren; seven sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; many other relatives and friends.
