Johnnie Mae Thompson

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Holly Springs C.M.E. Church, Bassfield, MS for Mrs. Johnnie Mae Thompson, 83, who died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2 017, at her residence.  Rev. Gerald Hudson officiated with interment following in the Wheeler Cemetery in Bassfield. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Thompson was born to the late Carrie Mae Cole.  She met and married the late Jatoy Thompson and to this union six children were born.

She joined Holly Springs C.M.E. Church where she served as stewardess and was on the missionary board until her health failed. She was employed with Five County Child Develpment Center where she served as assistant teacher, bus driver and cook.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Armstrong.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Thompson and Johnnie P. Thompson; four sons, Robert Herron, Larry (Ruby Jean) Thompson, James (Thelma) Thompson all of Bassfield,  Kenneth (Andrea) Thompson of Baytown, Texas; a nephew she raised as her own, Homer (Audie) Thompson; 18 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; one sister, Lois Jean (Charles) Reed; two brothers, Robert Armstrong and Willie (Delores) Armstrong all of Memphis, Tennessee; and many other relatives and friends.
