The new colors, logos and font designs were unveiled Monday night at the Jefferson Davis County school board meeting.
Jefferson Davis County High School head football coach and athletic director Lance Mancuso displayed the official designs of New England Patriots silver and the blue of the Boise State Broncos, which are the new school’s official colors.
“We have been working very closely with a company out of Hattiesburg on the new graphic and designs of our logos for the new Jefferson Davis County High School,” said Mancuso.
Mancuso also gave a report on the current sporting activities at each school.
“Our basketball teams just finished up their seasons. The PHS boys won their district, as did the girls at BHS.”
All four teams moved on to the south state playoffs and represented JDC county well. “Right now we have baseball, softball and track in full swing at both schools,” said Mancuso.
Junior high football spring training will begin next week and will end with a jamboree at the Bassfield campus on April 13.
High school spring training will begin the week after Easter break.
“We have a lot of things going on in extra curricular in sports and activities and our coaches are working very hard right now.”
The 2017 Jefferson Davis County High School football schedule has also been finalized. The Jaguars will open the season with a jamboree at home against the defending 4A south state champions, the Poplarville Hornets.
“For the first regular season ballgame, we are going to participate in the Port City Bowl against Harrison Central High School. The game will be held in Gulfport at Milner Stadium. It is a great honor,” said Mancuso.
The Jaguars will face Collins, Natchez, Tylertown, Columbia and Wesson at home. Away games will be against Wayne County, East Central, Franklin County, West Marion, and Seminary.
