Funeral services were held Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Palestine M. B. Church, Oakvale, for Mrs. Joyce Mae Fortenberry, 73, who died Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Jeff Davis Community Hospital.  Rev. Johnny Culver officiated with burial following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Fortenberry was born in Prentiss to the late Osmond and Mrs. Delia Mae Holloway Lott.  She was married to the late Joe Dale Fortenberry. Nine children were born to this union. She was employed with KLH Industries for many years.

She was preceded in death by: brothers, Bo Lott and Tevin May and granddaughter Miranda Devoe.

She is survived by: nine children, Jerry (Darren) Sanders of Charlotte, North Carolina, Onett Lott, Sarah Graves, Wardell (Carolyn) Fortenberry, Melissa (Donald) Weathersby, Earnestine Fortenberry, Ron Fortenberry, Joe (Tammy) Fortenberry all of Prentiss; Dale (Lisa) Fortenberry of Silver Creek; mother, Delia M. Lott of Prentiss; seven siblings, Wayvon Hollowayof Mt. Olive, DeWayne Holloway, Nancy Flowers, Carolyn White, Debbie Lott, Margie Tatum and Ruth Mae Lott all of Prentiss; a host of grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
