Funeral Services for Mrs. Rheda B. Carter were held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, at the Bassfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Carter died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, in Hattiesburg. Rev. Ken Roberts officiated. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery.
Saulters-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2017, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bassfield Baptist Church.
Pallbearers were Danny Kerley, Johnny Kerley, Jimmy Kerley, Chris Johnson, Keith Yawn and Henry Rich. Honorary pallbearers were Donna Ratliff and Ronnie Shivers.
Rheda Bob Carter was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Jefferson Davis County to Stanley Dean and Mamie Magee Dean. She was a factory worker in the garment industry. She was a member of Bassfield Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Gilbert Carter, four sisters, Mattie Nell Hall Aultman, Iva Dale McRaney, Waynett Ward and Ann Chambliss and two brothers, Jim Dean and Knox Dean.
Mrs. Carter is survived by her daughter, Rita Fay (Bobby) Armstrong of Columbia; two sons, Kent (Patrice) Carter of Bassfield and Randy (Teresa) Carter of Hattiesburg; seven granddaughters, Shannon (Keith) Yawn of Hattiesburg, Amy (Chris) Johnson of Columbia, Ashley Carter and Todd of Redwood City, California, Kelly (Anthony) Mitchell of Jackson, Katie (Austin) Romberger of Cypress, Texas, Hannah (Cliff) Clary of Centreville, Virginia and Ali Carter with fiancé Jonathan of Lakeland, Florida; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
