A cash reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for any information regarding a recent arson and robbery.

On Jan. 12, firefighters responded to a fire at a residence on Smith Hilltop Farm Lane in the Progress community in Jefferson Davis County.

During the course of extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the residence had been burglarized and that the fire appeared to be caused by arson.

The Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s office are currently investigating the incident and are asking for the public’s help.
