Funeral services were held March 23, 2019, at South Pleasant Hill M.
B. Church for Mr. John Sims, Jr. 73, who died March 19, 2019, at
Jefferson Davis Extended Care Facility in Prentiss.
Rev. Robert Collins, pastor, officiated with burial following in the
church cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. John Sims Jr. was born to the late John and Rebecca Sims in
Prentiss. He was a member of South Pleasant Hill M. B. Church where he
remained a faithful member until his health failed. Mr. Sims graduated
from J. E. Johnson High School in 1965; he moved to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin after graduation where he considered his second home.
He was preceded in death by: two brothers, William E. Sims and L. D.
Sims; and one sister, Miree Leverett.
He is survived by: two daughters, Tonia Smith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
and Hope Walker of Houston, Texas; two sons, Frederick (Latonya)
Wright of Batesville, and Steven Wright of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two
brothers, Tommy Sims of Detroit, Michigan and Lovell Sims of Prentiss;
special friend, Marie Applewhite; many other relatives and friends.
