Eddie Gene Douglas

Funeral services for Mr. Eddie Gene Douglas were held at 3 p.m. April
10, 2019, at the New Hebron Baptist Church. Mr. Douglas, 82, died
April 8, 2019, at The Baptist Medical Center in Jackson.
Rev. Gene Douglas, Rev. Ken Boytte and Rev. Mike Grenn officiated.
Burial was in the New Hebron Cemetery.
Saulters Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Chad Douglas, Justin Douglas, Micah Myers, Dylan
Douglas, Drew Walters and Jason Agerton. Honorary pallbearer was Jerry
Peak.
Eddie Gene Douglas was born on Sept. 12, 1936, in Jefferson Davis
County to Tom Douglas and Edith Jewel Harvey Douglas. He was an
inspector for a battery manufacturing plant. He was a member of
Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; his first wife,
Martha Nell Baylis Douglas; one granddaughter, Kaylin Reddock; five
brothers, Garland Douglas, Garvin Douglas, Ellis Douglas, Charles
Douglas and John Douglas; three sisters, Jewel Dean Jenkin, Hilda Mae
Bridges and Annie Laura Rampshur.
Mr. Douglas is survived by his wife, Charlotte Douglas of New Hebron;
four sons, Rev. Gene Douglas (Brenda) of Laurel, James Douglas of New
Hebron, Toby Douglas (Toni) of New Hebron and Archie Douglas (Shelly)
of Brandon; one daughter, Becky Myers (Tim) of Durant; one step-son
Judge Tyson Prestwood (Susan) of Byram; one brother Phillip Douglas of
Hazlehurst; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The first visitation was April 9, 2019, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Saulters
Funeral Home. The second visitation was April 10, 2019, from 1 to 3
p.m. at New Hebron Baptist Church.
