SMPDD awards college scholarships to JDCHS students

The Southern Mississippi Planning and Development District, Inc.
(SMPDD)awarded college scholarships to four Jefferson Davis County
High School students during a board of supervisors meeting recently.
Receiving $1000 scholarships to Pearl River Community College are
Zykira Betts, Reckeda Reggans, Tayshiana Washington and De’myia
Hooker. “We are honored to be able to provide this scholarship to
these students. It is important for our kids to stay in school and
receive their education so they can ensure a successful future,” said
JDC Supervisor and SMPDD board member John Thompson. The SMPDD board
increased the scholarship amount from $750 awarded in previous years.
Zykeri Betts is planning to major in nursing; Reckeda Reggans in
cosmetology; Tayshiana Washington in elementary education and De’myia
Hooker in physical therapy.
