Janice Louise Barnes

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2020 at J. E. Johnson Elementary School Gymnasium for Miss Janice Louise “Moon” Barnes, 51, who died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss.

Rev. Micheal Evans officiated with interment following in Green Grove M. B. Church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Janice Barnes was born to the late Homer Lee and Emma Louise Barnes in Laurel. She joined Green Grove M. B. Church at an early age and served on the cleaning committee.

She attended Prentiss Jr. and Senior High School where she excelled in basketball, softball and track. She received her GED and began to work to support her family.

She is survived by four daughters, Tatonya (Willie) Caffie of Killeen, Texas; Rhonda Barnes and Lateshia Barnes both of Prentiss; Romona Barnes of Magee; seven grandchildren, Laklyn Price, Bryce Barnes, Dallas Barnes, Ethan Caffie, Mylah James, Raynaldo Alexander II and Kameron Caffie; 12 siblings, Eloise Graham and Marvin (Gloria) Barnes of Chicago, Illinois; Patricia (Willie) Wilks, Margaret (Ricky) Price, Dennis (Letha) Barnes and Phyllis Brent all of Prentiss; John Barnes, Brenda (Robert) Carr, Jeffrey (Monica) Barnes of Hattiesburg; Terry (Carol) Barnes of Moss Point, MS; Michael (Cassandra) Barnes of Monticello; Willie (Lashonda) Barnes of Hattiesburg; and Georgia (Kevin) Lewis of Monticello; aunt, Everlena Rhodes of New Hebron; special friend, Cassandra Lumpkins and many other relatives and friends.
