Harolyn Brown

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2020, at Harmony Baptist Church in Mt. Olive, for Mrs. Harolyn Elizabeth Griffith Brown, 71, who died Monday, Sept. 28, 2020, at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss. Rev. Demetrius Pittman officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harolyn Brown was born to the late Walter and Elizabeth Slater Griffith in Mt. Olive. She graduated from Carver High School and attended Mary Holmes College in West point. She worked at Collinswood where she met her husband, Jimmie Brown; three children were born to this union. She later retired from WIC. Mrs. Brown was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where she was active in Pastor’s Aide, choir, mission, fellowship, finances, and Heroines of Jericho.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Griffith, Billy Griffith and Archie Griffith; three sisters, Lela Mae Ward, Vicki Payton and Virginia White.

She is survived by: three daughters, Angela Brown of Prentiss; Hyacinth Brown of Hattiesburg,  and Jimmie Carolyn (Carlos) Keaton of Pearl; four grandsons, Corporal Donovan Stutts of Fort Hood, Texas, Marcus Hawthorne of Prentiss, Carlos Keaton Jr. and Christian Keaton both of Pearl; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers, John W. Griffith of Purvis  and Shelby Graves of California; five sisters, Annie Wells of Pasadena, California, Geneva Phillips and Mary Young both of Purvis; Stella Griffith of Hattiesburg and many other relatives and friends.
