Graveside services were held Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at Green Grove Baptist Church for Mrs. Mary Aline Oatis, 79, who died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, at her residence.

Rev. Dorian Oatis officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Oatis was born to the late James and Mattie Herron.  She attended Prentiss Institute and Breeland Beauty School in Columbia.  She was married to Mr. Wince Oatis and to this union two children were born.  Mrs. Oatis worked in food services for several years at Sophia Sutton and head cook at Prentiss Regional Hospital for 33 years.  She was a cosmetologist at “The Alley” for years.

Mrs. Oatis was a member of Green Grove Baptist Church where she was active in the choir, Women of Virtue, food and dining ministry, and deaconess ministry.

She was preceded in death by her son Darron Oatis; brothers, James Herron, Joe Herron, Carvis Herron, Howard Herron and Levorn Herron and sister, Henrietta Herron.

She is survived by her husband, Wince E. Oatis of Prentiss; daughter, Zandra (Darren) Holloway of Prentiss; grandsons, Rev. Dorian (Felicia) Oatis of Tupelo and Zachary Holloway of Prentiss; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Erma Hall of Prentiss; Mildred (Jeff) Gray of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother, Charles (Mary) Herron of Jackson and many other relatives and friends.
