Memorial Services for Mrs. Katie M. Walker Griffith, 61, of Mount Olive, formerly of Carson, were held on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at 11 a.m. at The Chapel at Reeves Funeral Home, Inc. in Mount Olive.
Interment was in the Mt. Carmel Holiness Church Cemetery in Prentiss. Rev. Danny Griffith was the officiant.
Reeves Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Griffith passed away on Feb. 7, 2021.
Honorary pallbearers were Larry Griffith, James Griffith and the Walker brothers.
Flower bearers were sisters, nieces and cousins.
Mrs. Griffith attended Blackmon Temple CME Church in Carson, and later joined Mt. Carmel Holiness Church in Prentiss.
She was a graduate of Bassfield High School, attended Alcorn State University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi.
She also earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Jackson State University and had completed hours toward a Ph.D. at William Carey University.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Julius L. Walker and Ora V. Walker.
Surviviors include her husband, Anthony Griffith of Mt. Olive; two daughters, Katrina Griffith of Gulfport and Jasmine Griffith of Biloxi; granddaughter, Jaedyn Griffith; siblings, Charles L. Walker of Prentiss, Curtis L. Walker of Oakvale, Sidney L. Walker of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Eddie James Walker of Hathorn, Helen Deloise Walker of Winslow, Arizona, Ester Jeanette Quinn of Oakvale, Julius L. Walker of Oakvale, Stephen Walker of Hattiesburg, Michael A. Walker of Oakvale, Ardie E. Polk of Atlanta, Georgia, Angela R. Walker of Hattiesburg and Boris Walker of Carson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
