Charles Joiner

Graveside services were held Saturday, March 27, 2021, at Gregory Cemetery in Magee, for Mr. Charles Joiner, 81, who died Monday, March 29, 2021, at G. V. Sonny Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson. Rev. Arthur McLaurin officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Charles Joiner was born to the Richard and Mary Joiner in Oxford. He was raised in Zion Hill Baptist Church in Mendenhall, and attended McLaurin High School in Magee. He continued his education at Millsap Community College in Jackson, in pre-law for two years and joined the United States Army. After he served in the military, he made his residence in Chicago, Illinois for ten years. He later returned to Simpson County where he was called into the ministry and married his first wife, Mary Ruth of Mendenhall.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Juanita Holloway Joiner; three brothers, Edward Joiner, Jerry Joiner and James Joiner; sister, Doshia Easterling, niece, Latora Payne and nephew, Erin Barber.
He is survived by two sisters, Myrtle Peppers of Waterloo, Iowa and Deborah (Woodrow) Payne of Mendenhall; daughter, Yasmin (Jeffrey) of Seminary; three grandsons, Arthur (Evelyn) McLaurin Jr. of Southhaven; Kery (Marcia) Holloway of Prentiss; and Darrell Lomax of Prentiss; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
