Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Lanell “Nell” Burkett were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021, at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Burkett, age 98, passed away from this life on Thursday, May 6, 2021, in Prentiss.  Father Chinnappa Raj Mark officiated. Interment followed in St. James Cemetery.

Saulters-Moore Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Julia Lanell Burkett was born on July 13,1922, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to James Fagan and Bessie Tyrone Fagan. Mrs. Burkett was a marketer at the New Hebron Manufacturing Plant and she was a member of the St. Peters Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude T. Burkett; one son, Dan Hudson; five brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Burkett is survived by two daughters, Bettye Hudson of Biloxi and Iva Nell Horsh of Carriere; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Monday, May 10, 2021, from 9 until 10 a.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
