Department heads give monthly report at Prentiss Board of Aldermen meeting

Monthly departmental reports for the Town of Prentiss were given at the Prentiss Board of Aldermen meeting on May 18 at the Ronald W. Jones Memorial Complex.

Prentiss Police Chief Joe Bullock reported four motor vehicle accidents, eight alarm checks, 154 escorts, 22 citations, eight animal issues, eight inmate checks, 41 traffic stops, 95 complaints, 19 investigations, six misdemeanor arrests and four felony arrests.

Prentiss Fire Chief Wayne Bass reported the department made 10 emergency calls. Three house fires, one trailer fire, two medical calls, two jaws of life calls and two woods fires. The department performed fire inspections at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital, Jefferson Davis County Extended Care Facility and Outreach Children’s Ministries on Columbia Avenue.

Bass also applied for a grant through Centerpoint Entergy to pay for the cost of one MIS WIN radio.

According to Prentiss Public Works Director Don Jones the town pumped 5,980,000 gallons of water and sold 4,952,000. His department replaced two sprinkler heads, installed four meters,repaired water leak on Fourth Street, cleared a sewer line on Old 13 and Sixth Street and sprayed the fence at the lagoon.

This was in addition to routine monthly duties such as read water meters, cut and trim grass, and pick up limbs, leaves, trash and garbage. The crew also replaced muffler and changed oil on the town backhoe and replaced a hose on the longarm.

There was no report given by the town inspector.
