Funeral services were held Saturday, May 29, 2021, at New Zion Baptist Church in Oakvale,  for Mr. Kelly Lavell Hammond, 67, who died Saturday, May 22, 2021, at his residence.  Rev. Korey Langston officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kelly Hammond was born to the late Kelly and Mary Hammond in Oakvale.  He was a faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church until his health failed him. He was formerly a mechanic at Cook’s Garage for many years.

He was married to Mrs. Evelene Buckley Hammond.

He is survived by his wife, Evelene Hammond of Oakvale; son, Michael (Sharon) Hammond of Bassfield; daughter, Markeshia Hammond of Oakvale; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Margie (Will) Brown of Oakvale; Argie (Bruce) Daniels and Katie (Gary) Jackson both of Prentiss; Dorothy Jefferson and Tracey Dantzler both of Clarksville, Tennessee; brothers, Billy (Carry) Hammond and Rommia Hammond both of Oakvale; Ray (Cecila) Hammond of Silver Creek and many other relatives and friends.
