Graveside services were held Saturday, May 29, 2021, at Sweetwater C.M.E. Church in Bassfield,  for Mr. Leroy Barnes, 89, who died Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.  Rev. Marcus Loftin officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Leroy (Eddie Lee) Barnes was born to the late Buddy (L. D.)  and Georgia Mae Barnes.  He was married to the late Lola Mae Barnes and was a member of Sweetwater C.M.E. Church.

He was a logger most of his life and worked as an industrial worker in Pascagoula.

He is survived by six sons, Ernest (Linda) Barnes, Junior (Yolanda) Barnes both of Prentiss; Willie (Millie) Barnes of Georgia, Kevin Barnes of Seattle, Washington; Sammy Hawthorne, Larry (Mary) Hawthorne both of Gulfport; one daughter, Shirley (Maurice) Oatis of Prentiss; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; four siblings, Andrew Barnes, Willie Barnes, Louis D. Barnes and Eddie Ruth Bass.
