Leaf River Extraction in Prentiss is currently in negotiations with U. S. Hemp Hurd and other parties to manufacture Hempcrete blocks and panels in Prentiss.

The woody inner core of the stalk, which makes up 70% of the hemp plant, is known as the hurd.

Hemp hurds can be used for the hemp portion of the recipe in Hempcrete which is used as a material for construction and insulation. Hempcrete lacks the brittleness of concrete and  does not need expansion joints.  The result is a lightweight insulating material ideal for most climates.

New products are being added daily at LRE including soaps, bath bombs, gummies, vapes, vape juice and balms. A muscle rub made with fresh cayenne pepper coming from local farmers is currently in the works and will be on shelves soon.

LRE is working on its wholesale market and is hoping to expand their retail products into nearby areas in the coming weeks.
