Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Ruby K. Johnson Chapel for Miss Aja’s Ta’Miracle Shanelle Brown, 18, who died Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at University of Mississippi Childrens Hospital in Jackson.  Rev. Marcus McLaurin officiated with interment following in Sweetwater CME Church Cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Brown was born to Ashley Brown and Ira McGilberry Jr. at Forrest General Hospital.  She was a member of Sweetwater C.M.E. Church and attended kindergarten at J. E. Johnson Elementary and completed sixth and seventh grade at Bassfield High School. She attended Jefferson Middle School in Columbia when the family relocated and completed the eighth grade. Miss Brown graduated from Columbia High School on May 21, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Dorothy Brown and her God brother and sister, the Pittman twins.

She is survived by her mother, Ashley Brown of Bassfield; father, Ira McGilberry Jr. of Ellisville; grandparents, Lawrence Brown of Bassfield and Ira L. (Mary) McGilberry Sr. of Ellisville; three brothers, Josiah Brown of Bassfield, Ladarrius McGilberry and Jajuan Reed both of Laurel and many other relatives and friends.
