Graveside services were held Friday, July 30, 2021, at Wheeler Cemetery in Bassfield for Mrs. Clara Bell Loftin Applewhite, 88, who died Friday, July 23, 2021, at her residence. Rev. Eddie Dixon officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Clara Bell Loftin Applewhite was born to the late Monroe and Bertha Loftin. She was a member of Holly Springs C.M.E. Church where she served on the Stewardess Board, Missionary Society and Usher Board. She was a member of the Heroines of Jericho.

Mrs. Applewhite worked many jobs, Saulter’s Dry Cleaners, Edward Hyman, Southern Shirt, Midland Shirt and Bassfield Apparel.

She was married to the late Willie Lee (Dove) Applewhite and to this union, four children were born.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Willie D. (Pete) Applewhite and Levon Applewhite; one grandson, Christopher Applewhite; two great-grandsons, Kyzar Applewhite and Kenric Grandberry; six siblings, Willie Terrell, John Terrell, Arthur Ray Loftin, John Allen Loftin and Bobbie Ray Loftin and Mary McLeod.
