Graveside services for Mr. Luther James “Tootsie” Reese, 80, of Bassfield,  were held on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021, at 11 a.m. from the Reese Cemetery in Bassfield.  Rev. Eddie Dixon was the officiant.  Reeves Funeral Home, Inc., of Mount Olive was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Reese passed away on Aug. 17, 2021, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. 

Pallbearers were his nephews; flower bearers were his nieces.

Mr. Reese was a member of Holly Springs Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Bassfield.  He lived and worked in New Orleans, Louisiana for over 30 years. He later worked in Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Essie Mae Reese; siblings, Ida Mae, Elm, Mozell and Thomas Earl Reese.

Survivors include his brother, Vlicious Reese of Bassfield and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
