Patrick B. Magee

Graveside services were held Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at Shorts Chapel C. M. E. Church in Carson for Mr. Patrick B. Magee, 53, who died Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, in Forrest County. Rev. Elsie Rhodes officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Patrick B. Magee (Burton) was born to the late Samuel Bernard Burton and Ethel Lou Magee (Burton). He joined Messiah Temple Baptist Church at an early age where he served on the usher board in his youth. He was and ordained deacon in 2001 at Messiah Temple until he joined Greater Divine Love Baptist Church where he continued as a Deacon. In 2017, he became a member of Shorts Chapel C. M. E. Church and was ordained in the Ministry in 2020 under the leadership of Rev. Elsie Rhodes.
Mr. Magee attended Fernwood Elementary School and graduated from Percy L. Julian High School and later attended Hinds Community College in Utica.
He loved baseball and became a part of the Jackie Robinson West baseball league; he later returned to Chicago to coach at the same league he played in as a child. He coached, mentored and inspired many young children around the community.
Mr. Magee started his trucking career in 2005 and continued until his demise.
He is survived by one sister, Sandy (Bobby) Allen; one brother, Alanzo Burton both of Chicago, Illinois; three children, Brandon and Joyce Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; and Alexis Hardy of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Nehemiah, Brandi, Allan, Jordan, Allison, B. J. and Josiah and many other relatives and friends.
