Dr. Jaishankar Jagadeesan (Dr. J.) has opened a Prentiss Primary Care Covid Care Clinic in the South Prentiss Shopping Center in Prentiss. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., but will close on Wednesday at 12:30 p.m.
The clinic is COVID testing and administering monoclonal antibodies for COVID positive patients or those that have been exposed. Vaccines and boosters will be available once approved. The clinic will be staffed with a nurse, Sonja McRaney, with Dr. J available by Telemed.
Beginning Oct. 18, the office will begin an after-hours clinic on Monday through Friday from 4-8 p.m. with nurse practitioner Christa Staples on duty.
“We wanted to offer the community quality care after hours, so they don’t have to drive to Magee, Columbia or Hattiesburg,” said Dr. J.
“We recognize that the ER is a valuable resource to the community and should be used for emergencies. We will be there for patients’ urgent needs, not the emergent ones.”
The PPC Covid Care Clinic can be reached at 601-792-5354. Services are free at the clinic for those that are uninsured.
As of Sept. 27, Jefferson Davis County was reporting 1,684 cases and 42 deaths. The county increased 64 cases from Sept. 7-20 according to the Mississippi State Department of Health.
