Marcus Loftin

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 31, 2021, at Greater Sweet Beulah Church of God in Christ, Prentiss, for Mr. Marcus D’Antonio Loftin, 21, who died Monday, Oct. 25, 2021, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Elder Leroy White officiated with interment following in Golden Gate Cemetery in Prentiss. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Loftin was born to Mr. Marcus Loftin and Ms. Felicia S. Hooker in Hattiesburg. He attended Bassfield Headstart Center, G. W. Carver Elementary, J. E. Johnson Elementary, Prentiss Jr./Sr. High and Jefferson Davis County High School where he graduated in 2018. He later attended Jones Junior College to major in Sports Medicine and worked at Sanderson Farms until his demise.

He was a member of Greater Sweet Beulah Church of God in Christ where he served as the assistant Sunday School Superintendent, member of Sunshine Band, Puritan Group, Youth Choir and Usher Board. He also attended Sweetwater C.M.E. Church where he was a member of the choir, Sunday School and usher board.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Joe and Hazel Hooker, paternal grandparents, Spence and Christine Loftin, aunt, Izola Loftin; son, Spencer Ray Loftin.

He is survived by her father, Marcus (Melissa) Loftin of Lumberton; mother, Felicia Hooker of Prentiss; two brothers, Ja’Rontez of Prentiss; Spencer Loftin of Lumberton; two sisters, My’Kiria S. Loftin of Prentiss; McKenzie Loftin of Lumberton; many other relatives and friends.
