Graveside services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at Wheeler Cemetery in  Bassfield for Mrs. Estella Nelson Ross, 70, who died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, at her residence. Rev. Henry Kelly officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Estella Nelson Ross was born to the late Jack and Cora Nelson. She was preceded in death by her brother Jack Nelson, Jr. and daughter, Brenda N. Lampley.

She attended Carver High School and joined St. Paul M. B. Church at an early age where she was an usher and served until her health failed.

Mrs. Ross worked at Collinswood, the Sewing Factory, KLH and Cares Residence Home Health Services where she retired in 2018.

She is survived by her husband, Willie James Ross of Bassfield, six children, Gregory (Teresa) Nelson of Gautier, James (Carolyn) Ross and Paul Ross both of Prentiss; Tracy (Murphy) Evans of West Point; and Mickey (Rose) Ross of Laurel; four sisters, Ella Mae Hardaway of Meridian, Christine McDonald of Richton, Sadie Nelson of Union and Quincy Keyes of Bassfield; two brothers, Grover Nelson of Picayune and Jimmy Nelson of Memphis, Tennessee; fourteen grandchildren;  eight great-grandchildren and caregiver, Dorothy Middleton of Bassfield.
