Graveside services were held Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Sweetwater C.M.E. Church for Mr. Charles “Tobe” McGilberry, 78, who died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Forrest General Hospital in  Hattiesburgi.  Rev. Carlton Johnson officiated with Johnson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Charles McGilberry was born to the late Lucille Thompson McGilberry and Shelby McGilberry.  He was a member of Sweetwater C.M.E. Church.

Mr. McGilberry married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Dedeaux and to this union, three children were born. He was employed by the City of New Orleans where he served as Coordinator of the Mayor’s Council on Youth Opportunities and served as the Director of the Physical Plant Department at Delgado Community College. He was the founder and proprietor of his own business. He was a member of many several political organizations including: SOUL, PRIDE and ROOTS. After retirement, he returned home to Bassfield.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth McGilberry; son, Derek McGilberry; two daughters, Tasha (Mack) Felton and Kimberly McGilberry; four grandchildren; three brothers-in-law and many other relatives and friends.
