Wayne Brown, escorted by Jefferson Davis County Deputy Denise Jackson,  is brought by the Jefferson Davis County Courthouse on his way to Sweetwater CME Church for his funeral this morning. Brown worked over 14 years as a jailer for the sheriff’s department, under former Sheriff Henry McCullum and the current Sheriff Ron Strickland. “Wayne was a wonderful employee and we are all hurting over this loss,” said Sheriff Strickland. “He will be greatly missed by everyone in our department.” He was also a longtime employee of A. F. Carraway. Brown, 55,  died unexpectedly April 12 at his home in Bassfield.
