Funeral services were held Saturday, May 7, 2022, at South Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for Mrs. Jearlean Hill Barnes, 79, who died Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Jefferson Davis Community Hospital in Prentiss.  Rev. Robert Collins officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Jearlean Barnes was born to the late J. P. and Bessie Williams Hill in Prentiss, Mississippi.  She met and married the late Willie Junior Barnes in 1958. She was a member of Lucas Tabernacle Church of Christ Holiness, USA and later moved her membership to South Pleasant Hill. She served in many capacities including, President/Vice President of Senior Mission, State Convention, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School Teacher and Kitchen Committee. Mrs. Barnes worked at Old Hebron Store before retiring.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Lee Hill, Juanity Joiner, Willie L. Hill, Annie Rea Rogers, Mydonia Hubbard, J. P. Hill Jr., Charles R. Hill; two niece and three nephews.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by her children, Shirley (Derek) Rushing of Prentiss; and Charles (Carolyn) Barnes of Hattiesburg; siblings, Levell Hill of Prentiss; Iona Ducksworth of Gulfport; Betty Williams (Robert Earl) Watts of Prentiss; Eula Hill Weathersby of Gulfport; Gertrude Hall of Prentiss; Bonnie Bass of Prentiss; Helen Hill of Prentiss; and Linda Williams of Prentiss; special friend, Dorothy Hooker and many other relatives and friends.
