Burn ban issued for county

The Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors has placed the county under a burn ban until Oct. 17. Open burning is prohibited.
Any person who knowingly and willfully violates a burning ban is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be fined not less than $100 and not more than $500. Section 49-19-351 of MS Code of 1972, as amended. Burn bans are enforced by the Jefferson Davis County Sheriff’s Department.
There will be no exemptions with this ban, and it will expire at midnight on the stated date of expiration.
Grills, gas and charcoal, will be the only thing allowed to use and should be used with extreme caution.
