Mrs. Hazel Marie Owens Jackson, 64, of Pearl, passed away on Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. She was born in Copiah County on July 13, 1958, and grew up in the community of Strong Hope. Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Cliburn Cemetery in Silver Creek.
Pallbearers were Daniel Wayne Young, Philip Matthew Young, James Derek Young, Patrick Burnett, Donavon Lomax Young and Daron Lane Young. Visitation was held Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.
Marie was a woman of great faith and a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ. She was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi. Marie enjoyed many years in her career as a property manager prior to her retirement.
Marie loved reading, shopping, fishing, having afternoon tea, sitting on the front porch in her rocking chair, listening to the rain, playing with her dog Shadow, and spending time with her family and friends. Marie was preceded in death by her birth parents Warren and Mary Agnes Martin
Howard, adoptive parents J.D. and Bonnie Bell Martin Owens, biological father Thomas Davis, brothers Earl Martin and David Howard, and sister Earline Hemby.
Marie is survived by her husband Gary Dean Jackson of Pearl; children Brandi Young Sutton (Dustin) of New Hebron, Daniel Wayne Young of New Hebron, Philip Matthew Young of Monticello, and James Derek Young of Pearl; stepson Patrick Burnett of Ocean Springs; grandsons Donavon and Daron; granddaughters Nadia, Josette, Arabella, Eden-Lee, Aliyah, Emma-Rae, and Eevee-Mae, siblings Quinna Howard Cooper (Buck), Tommy Davis (Carol), Jackie Davis, Jerry Davis, Ricky Davis (Margaret), Maxie Davis (Kim), Carolyn Lewis, Marilyn Templeton, and Joyce Scarborough; and cousins Paul Eddie Martin (Rhonda) and Becky Martin Rancour (Tim), along with many beloved extended family members and friends.
