Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 12, 2022, at the Ruby K. Johnson Chapel in Prentiss, for Mr. Tommie Lee Smith, 73, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, at Singing River Hospital in Gulfport. Rev. Larry Smith officiated with interment following at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Silver Creek. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Tommie Smith was born to the late Joyce Bass Smith, the late Ira Smith, and the late B. P. Smith. He attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Gulfport. He worked as a pipefitter/welder at Ingalls Shipyard. He enjoyed fishing, westerns, and eating.

Tommie is survived by his daughters, Tarsha Caster, Long Beach; Tammy Smith, Gulfport; brothers, Ira Smith Jr., Gulfport; Melvin Smith, Oklahoma; Robert L. Smith, Larry Smith, Danny W. Smith, Charles Smith, James Smith, Matthew Smith, Leo Smith, all of Silver Creek; sisters, Caroline Snell, New Hebron; Lynne Slack, Peggy Smith and Amanda Bledsoe, all of Silver Creek; Dora Jones, Gulfport; Linda McNair Phillips, Lucedale; Genevia Harvey, Mary Johnson, Clementine Woods, Celestine Keyes, Loretta Smith, and Vanessa Smith, all of Gulfport;  three grandchildren, one great grandchild; long-time partner, Ms. Mamie Davis, Gulfport; ex-wife, Norma Jean Smith, Gulfport, and many other relatives and friends.
