Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at New Zion Baptist Church in Oakvale, for Mr. Ray K. Hammond, 62, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Rev. Korey Langston officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Ray K. Hammond was born to the late Kelly and Mary Hammond. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church in Oakvale. Mr. Hammond worked offshore. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking, music, cars, and horses.

Ray is survived by his wife, Cecilia Hammond, Oakvale; sons, Quadarius Hammond, Prentiss; Kendrick (Constance) Parkman Hattiesburg; Fredrick (Shannon) Parkman, Houston, Texas; daughters, Sharon (Michael) Lyles, Brookhaven; LaTashia Parkman, Hattiesburg; brothers, Billy (Carry) Hammond, Oakvale; Rommia Hammond, Oakvale; sisters, Katie (Gary) Jackson; Argie (Bruce) Daniels; and Margie (Will) Brown, all of Prentiss; Tracey Dantzler and Dorothy Jefferson, both of Clarksville, Tennessee; 16 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
