Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 2,  at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church in Prentiss, for Mr. Thomas Edward Jones Sr., 71, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Rev. James Damper officiated with interment following in Griffith Cemetery in Prentiss. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomas Edwards Jones Sr. was born to the late Willie James and Lessie McLaurin Jones. He was a retired educator.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, painting, westerns, boxing, and spending time with family and friends.

Thomas is survived by former wife, Patricia; children, Lisa Michelle Hawkins-Jones, Byram; AnnTaurica Mesille (Timothy) Willis, Braxton; Thomas Edward Jones III, Laurel; and Luressie Marnora (Lionel) Lee, Jackson; six grandchildren; three sisters, Willie Mae Hall, Gulfport; Claresia (Thomas) Smith, Mt. Olive; Jessie Mae Cobb, Washington, D. C.; brother, Steven Earl Jones, Jackson and many other relatives and friends.
