Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 3 2023, at Blackmon C.M.E. Church in  Carson, for Mr. Benjamin Franklin Johnson, III, 79, who passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022 at Southwest Re-gional Medical Center in McComb.

Rev. Christopher Thompson officiated with interment following in Sweetwater Cemetery in Bassfield.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnson was born to the late Benjamin and Katie Mae Johnson. He was a member of Blackmon Temple C.M.E. Church. Mr. Johnson was a retired educator, member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraterni-ty, NAACP, and Relay for Life Program. He enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, and bowling.

Benjamin is survived by his wife, Rose Johnson, Birmingham, Alabama; children, Sandra (James) Bennett, Madison; Toya Johnson, Fredericksburg, Virginia; Benjamin Franklin Johnson IV, Huntsville, Alabama; and stepson, David Dubbins Jr., Atlanta, Georgia; three sisters, Carol Burger, Jack-son, MS; Thelma Magee, Pascagoula; Shirley Roland, Jackson; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
