Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Taylorsville for Mr. James Louis Showers, Jr., 24, who passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023, in Covington County. Rev. James Powell officiated with interment following in the church cemetery. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. James Louis Showers, Jr. is the son of Mr. James L. Showers Sr. and the late Vinnie Mae Smith. He was a member of Powell Ministry, New Hebron. Mr. Showers was a culinarian who loved basketball, playing video games, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by: father, James L. Showers, Sr., New Hebron; brothers, Darius Smith, Covington, GA; Jamie Easterling Sr., Prentiss; sister, Dr. Jamesia Showers Alford, Atlanta, GA; two grandmothers, Pearlene Smith, Taylorsville, and Nell Walker, New Hebron; grandfather, Jessie L. Smith and many other relatives and friends.
