Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at McDowell Nance Jordan Convention Center in Hattiesburg, for Mrs. Queen Esther Hooker, 92, who died Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. Elder James Harrell Jr. officiated with interment following on Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Zion Hill Church of God in Christ in Prentiss. Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hooker, known as Mama Queen, was born to the late Caliph and Essie Longino in Prentiss, Mississippi.  She was the oldest of six children and spent her early years on the Springhill community.  She was a member of Zion Hill Church of God in Christ. where she served as an usher, Jurisdictional Women’s Choir member, Hospitality constituent, prayer warrior and church Mother.  She married the late Dannie L. Hooker and moved to Hattiesburg, where they raised six children. 

She was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Hooker; siblings, Olive Longino, Truly Longino, Caliph Longino II, Charles Longino and Robert Longino.

Her survivors are: son, Robert Hooker, Collins, MS; daughters, Brenda (Pastor James) Harrell, Hattiesburg; Subrina Hooker, Hattiesburg; Lykinda (Spencer) Thibodeaux, Slidell, Louisiana; Robin Longino, Hattiesburg; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
