Funeral services were held Monday, May 15, 2023, at North Pleasant Hill M. B. Church in New Hebron for Mr. Charlie Junior Newsome, 87, who passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Wesley Merit Health Hospital in Hattiesburg.

Rev. Moses Johnson officiated with interment following in the church cemetery.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He is the son of the late Robert and Annie Mae Newsome.

He was a member of North Pleasant Hill M. B. Church where he served as a Deacon, choir member, Sunday School Teacher, member of Benevolent and Brotherhood.

Mr. Charlie Junior Newsome was a retired butcher who loved fishing, crossword puzzles, watching westerns, and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by: wife, Bobbie Jean Newsome, New Hebron; son, Fredrick Newsome (Karen), Nashville, TN; daughters, Sandra Annette Pullins and Janet Newsome, Nashville, Tennessee; Marcella McDuffey, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Linda Newsome (Rickey) Prather, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Trina Newsome (Paul) Carter, New Hebron; brothers, Earl Newsome, St. Louis, Missouri; Robert Newsome Jr., Prentiss; sisters, Bertha Lewis, Gary, Indiana; Bobbie Ann Newsome, Buffalo, New York; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
